Mrs. Powers

I'm Michele Powers. I’m here to help answer your questions and keep things running smoothly here at Union School. Please feel free to stop by the office and say hello.

 

I've been working at Union School since 2011. Before my time here, I spent many years in education, teaching in Vernon and Tolland. Teaching social studies was my favorite. I love history, especially the Progressive Era (the 1890s to the 1920s). I also love studying foreign languages with German being my favorite, although it is challenging.

 

I live in Tolland with my best buddy, George, a rescue dog from Mississippi who is the best. I also live with my husband, Scott, who is a digital editor at ESPN and has been in journalism as long as I've known him. 

 

We have two beautiful daughters. Jane and her husband, Matt, live in Burlington, VT. Victoria lives in Brooklyn, N.Y. It’s always a lot of fun visiting them. There are so many fun and interesting things to do in Burlington and New York City.

 

I grew up in Ohio --I have never seen my teams the Browns and Indians (now Guardians) win a Super Bowl or World Series. I’m hoping that will happen someday. My biggest joys are working in my flower gardens or kitchen. I love cooking and eating a plant-based diet, as well as baking cookies, pies and cakes, too. Scott and I love to travel and hope to see many more places in the future.
