Mrs. ZB, Grades 3 & 4

Hi, I’m Patty Zulick-Bessette, but everyone calls me Mrs. ZB.  I joyfully teach third and fourth grade at Union School.  I am a native of Ashford, Connecticut but now live in nearby Willington with my sweet husband, Lucien.  I have two beautiful daughters, one a graphic artist and yoga instructor, the other a senior at UCONN studying material science in engineering.

I am a graduate of Ashford School and Pomfret School. I attended Hartford College for Women, Mount Holyoke College and earned my teaching certificates from ECSU.

I have always had two passions: reading and animals.  As a child, I spent much time on the cool floor of the old stone Babcock Library every summer, pulling books from the shelf to carry home.  I’m pretty sure I read every book in the children’s and young adult sections.  I still enjoy the rich language, vivid description and colorful illustrations of children’s literature, but now I share that love with my students and granddaughters.

In my lifetime I have had a wild array of pets including rabbits, a flying squirrel, a raccoon, an alligator, sheep, fish, gerbils, guinea pigs, chickens, a cockatiel, a parrot, Siamese cats, Labrador retrievers, golden retrievers and Boston terriers.  Nowadays, my husband and I share our home with a sweet little Boston terrier named Orion, who loves to snuggle with me while I read.
